    Chairman of the Board

    Laurie Cox became Chairman of SMS in May 2001.

    He has extensive experience in Australian and international financial markets. He was an Executive Director of Macquarie Group Limited, Co-Chairman of Macquarie Capital Advisers Limited and acting Chairman of Macquarie Group Foundation Limited until 2009.

    He has been Chairman of the Transurban Group, Murdoch Childrens Research Institute and a Non-Executive Director of OneSteel Limited; he was Executive Chairman of the Potter Warburg Group of Companies in Australia from 1989-1995 and was a Director of SG Warburg Securities of London.

    He was a Director of the Australian Stock Exchange from its inception in 1987 and Chairman from 1989-1994 and was awarded the Order of Australia for services to the ASX and the securities industry.

    Laurie is a graduate of Melbourne University with a Bachelor of Commerce, a Fellow of the Australian Society of Certified Practising Accountants and a Senior Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australia.
